They Too

bright lights twinklin'
'tis season laughter, cheer!
Here! cast aside these drapes
       that all may see!
bright happy faces, children
       laughing, playing under
       star-bright tree,
parents faces---
       radian as Sol at noon!
bound by deep unfathomable love,

walk these streets like wraith
such thing holidays bring,
       kinder, gentler more forgiving
       perhaps year's concerns fade
       into background,
family, friends, joy takes fore,
such happy faces we envy,
       its a wonderful time!
bound by deep unfathomable love,

Floating like phantoms we be,
       mere spectator witnessin'
       in shadows forever bound,
       shrouded in perpetual night
       unseen--- passing moment
       to moment in background,
humanity's cheerful moments
happy thoughts filling hearts,
bound by deep unfathomable love,

we long as humans do,
       to feel her warm touch---
       that lightens heavy load,
       to experience that gentle smile
brighter than all the stars give,
bound by love's eternal beauty,

what mere dream!
       these shadows for us exist,
       Wraith walking perpetual night
       we fly in this,
what insane reason?
Milton your words pervert
       yet its truth hold true:
They too Live,
       those who choose not to,
They too Love,
       those who forsake it,
that others may live and love
to smile, to laugh, to enjoy,
       to fully live!
basking under love's warm blanket,
