John Paul II

Pope John Paul II returned home at 9:37 in the evening, 2 April 2005, Vatican time and an era ended.

John Paul II was an amazing, great, most remarkable yet humble man. He embodied faith, he lived it. Pope John Paul II was statesman extraordinary--- shrewed in his public relations applying every facet of media and image building campaign, rubbing elbows from the Everyman to rulers and leaders of nations and of every faith. He made every Christian the world over part of the Church not just in prayer, not just in belief but by including heroes who've made extraordinary contributions to the Faith, beatifying them, accelerating their path to Sainthood.

His Holiness John Paul II was a healer. He was a man of Peace. As Pope, he was instrumental in establishing Diplomatic ties with nations having a long standing misunderstanding with the Vatican. John Paul II reached out to other religions--- Buddhists, Orthodox, Jews, Muslims and established relations with those religions most often firsts in centuries. He proved that The Roman Catholic Church is a Religion that includes. He lived and breathed this.

When His Holiness spoke--- in actions, in words and in writing, you could feel the authority emanating from him. It was beyond human expertise in Faith. Pope John Paul II, an extraordinary human being, a Shepard, an example for us all, a Champion of Faith, a true Servant of Christ: in his every action and in every event of his most remarkable, yet humble life.

Pope John Paul II was controvertial--- his views on morality were not always easy to construe. He was a difficult man to understand. His views, likewise difficult to construe and for many of us, difficult to accept. I have only read one of his books... "Crossing the Threshold of Hope", and his views and his vision is remarkable. He is a man who believes in the dignity of man without compromise. Though conservative, his pro-woman view raises the dignity of women. His views on relationships--- is profound and something to aspire to. One important line in his book hit a cord--- "When love, is truly responsible, it is also truly free." And he lived by those words and those words can be applied to all our relationships.

The human race greatly benefited from his passage on this Earth. We were blessed by his genius, his character, his leadership and his Faith. The world he left behind is a much better place than when he entered and lived in and with his leadership, his teachings and his humility and his example, the Church is better prepared now to move forward. John Paul II was living proof of God's grace as well as the embodiment of what is good in us all.

For his service to us all, though with a bit of sadness that he has left us and moved on: we owe him a depth of gratitude beyond measure.

What better testimony of the World's acclaim for this great and humble man that in his final hour, in his passing, we stand together, of different faiths, of different beliefs praying in our own way, for John Paul II who did much for us. We honor him, as he respected and touched us over the years, and given to the world his gift of service.

His Holiness, John Paul II's work is complete. It is up to us now, to move forward and build on them. Pope John Paul II will be missed, and his reward of Eternal Life is with him now and for that we are profoundly joyous and grateful to God!
